Some facts about the "Tossers"

  1. "The Tossers", is an affectionate name given to the band members, while the female fans (who perform the Irish Dancing) have been nicknamed the "Tossettes" by the Manchester Evening News. Two of the original "Tossettes" are Rita and Bernie who also designed the cover of the Columbus Eclipse album.




  2. Due to being the folk style band that has toured and played the most gigs in a year, "The Tossers" have earned a place in the Guinness Book of Folk Music

  3. "The Tossers" have played all over the UK, Ireland, Europe and the USA. Europe was particularly successful and for the first half of the 90's the band practically lived there ,with their record and management company based in Germany. The band has always had a strong following of music lovers, Irish orientated or not and importantly they have the respect of other musicians.


  4. Over the years the line up has chopped and changed , original members having gone on to successful solo careers but the essence of Toss the Feathers is still the same. Powerful yet subtle with the best of Irish musicianship meeting the brilliant rock rhythm sections combining in what is still an original sound.


  5. In 1987 the original line up of TTF was formed,when a glorified session was held in the Bridgewater Bar in Stockport . Dave Smylie, Michael McGoldrick, Pete Carberry, Angela Usher and Martin Moylan started the group that are a legend on the Celtic Rock circuit.

  6. In April 1992 Toss the Feathers made their debut appearance at the Apollo in Manchester, in front of 2,000 plus capacity venue. The TTF line up in 1992 included Dave Smylie, Sean Regan, Paul Usher, Jim Krawiecki, Eddie Sheehan and Michael McGoldrick.
